The joint 7th World Congress on Twin Pregnancy and 19th Congress of the International Society of Twin Studies (ISTS) was held from the 26th-28th of September 2024, in Assisi, Italy. The 3-day programme was built around outstanding abstract presentations, engaging workshops, and cutting-edge lectures by international experts in Twin studies.
The TWINS congress 2024 has gathered international physicians, researchers, and enthusiasts with diverse backgrounds in one place to discuss and explore the challenging scientific topics on Twin studies and Multiple pregnancies.
Prof. Athula Sumathipala, founder of the Sri Lanka Twin Registry, Director of the Institute for Research and Development, Secretary General of the International Society of Twin Studies delivered a lecture on “Ethical aspects in Twin research” at the Congress. Dr. Helena Zavos from King’s College London delivered a presentation on the “Sri Lankan Twin Registry: First and largest Twin research program in a Low-and Middle-Income country”. Dr. Helena Zavos has played a significant role in collaborating with the Sri Lankan Twin Registry and the Institute for Research and Development (IRD), contributing to advancements in twin research and the understanding of genetic and environmental factors in health outcomes.
The Joint 8th World Congress on Twin Pregnancy and 20th Congress of the International Society of Twin Studies (ISTS) will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in August, 2025 under the leadership of Prof. Athula Sumathipala.
